Zanpakutou

Zanpakutou Spirit | Shinshou's Zanpakutou is named Jin which can mean "gentle" using some understanding of Japanese characters. However, the name Jin for "gentle" does not suit his spirit at all, and as far as Shinshou is concerned his name should be "rough" or whatever term befits those who have the personality of sand paper and the strength of a thousand bulls. Jin does not diverge much about his name or the meaning behind it, nor does he too much particularly like to lend Shinshou power at all. He has an attitude of a Capitan which cares nothing about the well-being of his men and a selfish introverted mentality which puts power and strength above all else. He fervently disagrees with Shinshou being in the Gotei or holding any loyalty to any group or organization which requires one to place loyalty of others above their own strength and power. Being this way, is it clear as to why Shinshou describes him as "rough".

He has the idealistic methods found of those who lived in the Edo period of Japan. He holds on to a sense of self justice and militaristic regulation through all decisions whether they be civil or judicial, all should be solved with the sword. Respect is a tremendous value to him when it comes to any type of "partnership" with anyone. Even in the Inner World, he demands that Shinshou must bow his head. Even though respect ties into the principles of loyalty, he agrees in the idea of Shinigami being lone beings who hunt hollow on their own to protect the humans. The idea of creating a "Gotei" detests him, as organized Shinigami being placed above one another is a system which asks to eventually fall, by creating levels of power. In his eyes, those strong enough to be recognized as Capitan should not be recognized as such with leadership of group and cape, but only through their own display of power. A quote from him personally "Let him not be known by direct confrontation, or place at all. Let him be known by the tales that the hollow tell each other when they are confessing their fears, let him be known by rumors and tales which follow the lips of gossiping folk and of the elderly who speak of the past. Shinshou, that is what it means to be a Shinigami." The only time he believes organizations should be formed is if there is impending doom which threatens the safety of existence itself.

His appearance is that of a rugged, but young and experienced warrior who has lived through countless of lifetimes, and has survived scratches with death multiple times. Even though he contains no obvious scars which represent those experiences, the dusty and stubble-filled chin along with short, curly unruly hair which seems to curve and crawl in every direction gives him that appearance. His eyes are blood red as if he contains a demon of uncontrollable power, armed with canine-like teeth that resemble a vampires lethal fangs. A squared tight jaw holds those teeth in place, sometimes finding a grass straw nestled in between his lips. He wears a blood red trench coat, dressed with a grey-white collared undershirt which comes up above the trench coat and is nestled around his neck loosely, with the collar being exposed instead of folded properly. A blood red tie adorns the lower part of his neck, loosed as if after a stressful day of work.

Underneath the trench coat and over the collared shirt, he wears a dark grey vest which covers the majority of space shown between his trench coat when it is not buttoned securely. The tie hangs down between this area, at least a third of a meter and some, dangling along with the large flaps of the trench coat which hang down near his ankle, always catching the breeze of the wind. He wears matching dark grey pants which hug the form of his toned lean body. Bound with boots laced with metal straps on his feet, he walks with a slight sound in his step. Not at all uncommon, is the sword in its sealed state which handles well at his waist, finding the the cloak and security underneath the trench coat. Sometimes when it is buttoned up, movements can difficult to discern.

He is a tall, slender figure, sharing roughly the same height as Shinshou. Underneath the classical formal attire that he wears, he dons a body which has been hailed as beautiful for anyone who sees it. A long, tall toned appearance which suits him for speed combat rather than brute strength. His muscles are toned and chistled, cut by the stones of victory. At first a bare appearance leaves one to believe that he would have a normal level of fitness, but the ability packed deep within the toned muscles hides their true power. He caps off his appearance with gloved hands that seem to mold to his unusually long fingers perfectly. This ends up giving him an unbeffiting appearance, a demon wrapped the garbs of a blood stained sheeps clothing is the best way to put it.
Spoiler:
Inner World | The Inner World is a place which is another contradicting part of Jin's personality. After seeing his appearance and experiencing his personality first hand, Shinshou naturally assumed that he would end up in a place which rivals hell, skull and bones as the carpet of a floor of death. Misery and confusion for wind and air, and the clouds above like ruptured hearts raining down a torrent of blood to douse him in, as he treads over mangled and dismembered corpses. The envisioning of such a place was the first thing he could assume naturally. It handles his personality well, and undoubtedly in the center of all of it he imagined a throne sculpted of fresh bones where he could sit.

However the place is entirely different. It is a field, which seems to stretch out endlessly.. In the center of it lies a dojo which is about 30 meters wide and long, in a perfect square. The dojo is a deep reddish wooden cover, and a one roofed frame standing up by large square pillars around the entire complex. It is seated above the ground on a concrete slab that extends out from the dojo by another 5 meters and a meter off the ground. The entrance to the dojo is made of a typical tight and taut yellow creme looking opague paper, allowing light to traverse in but only the vague image of shadows to be seen from anyone on the outside. It contains no visible windows due to this and has two wide double doors at a entrance seated with steps on one side. It should be noted that these doors have no handle to them and slide out on the outside of the dojo.

The inside is lined with a tan colored wood which races along the floors in lines. The long planks of wood easily stretch their grasp from one end to the other and cover the floor entirely, black lines of separation between the planks running between them. Upon entrance the planks run horizontally. The inside houses the pillars of the same size on the outside, though situated more towards the center of the dojo, to support the roofing in even places. The yellow taut paper also runs up the walls very high, at least 6 meters, constantly getting lighter as they ascend to let more sunlight in. The thin wood that separates them is split into corresponding designs for the thicker wood that holds the walls tall and firm. These range from a regular square grid pattern to a larger rectangular ones and back to thicker square ones nearing the top. At the opposite end of the dojo is a wall sectioned off, made of a solid plank of wood. It is an 8 foot square piece of wood which has three square pieces of paper housed on it. One in the center is obviously ancient and old at first observance, hanging on a rectangular piece of wood coming up from the ground for support. Two more scrolls lie on either side of it, newer ones that are easier to see. They are supported by a nail in the wall. Jin usually resides on this side when he is not outside, and even when he is alone in this s place, Shinshou can never seen to get to the end of the room to read what is on scrolls. Jin told him that if the thought of bankai ever crosses his mind, even once, he must be able to get to that other end of the room.

The outside of the dojo is complimented by a roof that holds home to a thousand or so cherry blossoms which dot it. Shinshou can never tell what season it is, it feels to be some hybrid cross between spring and summer. The sun bears down hard, and is angled in the sky as if it is almost evening time. As far as he can see, the grass stretches out beyond the naked eye and the whole place is dotted with large and very old cherry blossom trees. These trees are massive containing a countless number of beautiful branches crowed in a mixture of pink, white and a blend of both. Combating the powerful sun, a strong breeze always seems to come by whenever the sun seems to be too hot. Jin can be found under any of the trees near the dojo, resting under the shade and relaxing in the wind. If he is in the dojo, he is sitting at the end, blocking any chance of reading what the scrolls say and always approaches Shinshou by walking towards him, never letting him get close. If he were to let him walk on his own, he would never reach the end.

It seems to be one of those worlds only created by the myth and fiction of Edo period Japan. A world decorated in such beauty and raw nakedness of nature, yet housed by someone who would normally not come off as anyone who would care about beauty itself. The dojo and the Sakura field contradict one another, and also contradict with Jin's personality. This contradiction exists for some unknown reason to Shinshou, some reason which he will figure out later on. He always wondered why in such a peaceful place, why would there exist a room for fighting and why would this be the Inner World of a person with an attitude as Jin. Something he cannot answer yet, but he connects the ambiguity of the contradiction to the scrolls in the dojo, which might hold the answer.

Spoiler:
Sealed state | Like normal Zanpakutou, Shinshou's sword resembles that of a normal katana. However, it obviously differs in some ways. One way is that the metal used to make up the sword is different from normal. It does not have the shine of a normal katana and is comprised of a metal unknown to him which acts in a similar way. This however doesn't change the ability of the sword in any other way, expect that it ends up making the sword much darker than normal. Due to this, his sword doesn't shine or glisten at all and is dull grey color. Etched in the blade is an inscription which is written in a coded form of Japanese characters that Shinshou can't read. It also has a standard bo-hi groove, with a bit larger handle. The blade itself is approx 47" long, and the handle is approx 22" long. He also has an identical wakizashi, a short sword which is used in conjunction with his zanpakuto. It has no abilities at all however. It is 22" long and appears to be a smaller version of his katana without the inscription at all.
Spoiler:

Shikai
Overall Ability | Once he enters Shikai, Jin's form allows him extra power in the form of a certain ability. The ability increases the properties of his blade. At normal glance the blade doesn't seem to increase in any sort of way, but the edge of the blade becomes a lot stronger than it normally was before. The blade's sharpness increases, and through zanjutsu with other opponents, they may notice their blade becoming weaker by the moment, chipping away at the sword. This may sometimes encourage members to not use a blade at all, or switch to some other method of combat which doesn't put their zanpakuto at a slight risk.

Since sharpness is the key to the blade's strength, some may notice that the blade may even some times whistle through the air like a piercing scream if swung fast enough. Due to the increase in sharpness, all cuts made through solid objects like bone or earth become much easier, making it easier on Shinshou in turn when he uses strength to cut through opponents. Depending on the type of cut and their body, sometimes an opponent might not even know they were cut at all if they do not possess good attention. The shikai increases the sharpness of the blade over most known objects and in conjunction with some zanjutsu, techniques like "Nadegiri" will see an obvious increase in effectiveness. Wind attacks may find theirselves cut down, but this isn't to imply total negation. The space that would cut the wind would be the same as the blade, which is very small. In most cases the attack will still work, unless the wind is as small as his blade itself.

As a melee type shikai, the obvious weaknesses may be hard to spot. The spiritual energy used to fuel the cutting ability of this sword are the backbone of the shikai. Unless Shinshou is cutting through paper and soft materials, the more he cuts and the more dense it is, the more energy will be used. This isn't to say that cutting through objects that can already be cut by normal katana like bones won't cost energy, but the harder it is, the more costly it is to cut it. Also, one shouldn't be confused by the implication of Shinshou's Shikai. It isn't designed to cut and break down Zanpakuto at all, so it doesn't necessarily contain the ability to destroy them. The cuts in anyone's Zanpakuto are not huge, but may cause them to use less zanjutsu, thats if they have a will similar to Ichigo's when he faced Kenpachi for the first time. The cutting ability shines most against flesh, bone and objects like earth and such.. A cut made to the flesh might not appear until a second later, to reflect the sharpness in which the blade inflicts. Something like a decapitation may leave the head still standing on the neck, where everything appears to be normal until some force acts on it.

Release phrase | Maim, Jin
Shikai Appearance | Like some Shikai releases the form of the blade does not chance much. The cosmetics and appearance of the blade stay the same, and the only thing that could change are minor abilities. The color will stay the same, the dull grey appearance which doesn't hint to any increase in sharpness or what have you. The black color of the scabbard and the hilt remain the same length and the same in appearance. The blade will finish out at approx 50" long and the inscription on the blade may or may not glow red. It usually does when Shinshou's eyes change color, again only a cosmetic appearance here which doesn't signify much. It may or may not glow red all the way, maybe half or 1/4 of it will glow depending on level of frustration, sometimes which opponents may confuse for a levels of power. Overall, the Shikai appearance stays roughly the same.

APPEARANCE //
Further than just the skin //

Height | 6' 4"
Weight | 180 lbs.
Hair color & Style | Black, Mid-short length. No particular style or dressing.
Eye color | Golden Brown
Overall Appearance | Shinshou is a tall slender figure that towers over most Japanese. His unusual hieght and streamlined body make him stand out in a lot of ways. He doens't posses the big and tall frame, which makes him look unusually skinny, skinnier than he actually is. With long legs and a tall body, one might assume that it would be hard for him to run properly or move in any agile way, moving is just fine. He received all of his looks from his mother from the pictures he has saved of her, but he carries a bitter face which hides the positive emotions that his mother carried so strongly. Unlike most people his ears are pointed somehwat and care sometimes noticeable under the loose short hair that juts out on his head. He has a face that suits the spirit of a wolf and unusually large lips for Japanese people. They aren't too large, but are full and thick, especially the bottom one. Semi-thick eyebrows hide behind his loose almost stringy appearing hair.

He has one of those faces that seems to be full of convoluted negative emotions. As if there were a thousand thoughts running through the recesses of his mind, mainly those associated with guilt, remorse, anger, and loneliness. He always appears to be thinking about something, even when he is engaged in conversation with people and close friends. When he is in a positive mood, someone could easily mistake a smile for an overly-confident smug grin. Though he doesn't like to smile much, when he actually does it appears to be one of those grins which slightly resemble Kenpachi's, tight lips pulled to reveal his teeth which are armed in a similar manner as Jin's. They aren't true "fangs" though they are obvious. He sometimes bites his lower lip and can show case the jagged canine teeth.

His muscular body is comprised of toned and lean muscle which make it easier for him to move quicker. With a shirt removed, muscles like the pectoralis appear to be more flat and broad, with a slow rise across his chest. His ab muscles are developed as should be any Shinigami's, and appear to be "cut" all the way. They form an odd V shape which show cases all of them. His calf and thigh muscles seem to be more muscular and appearance, and he contains a long-type calf muscle which is not as short and bulky looking. With long feet, toes and fingers he stands to appear as the pinnacle of toned fitness for people his age, that is if he was really 20 years old.

His eyes are unique and go against the wolf like appearance that his ears and tall frame give him. They are a deep golden brown color which seems to be more like amber in an odd way. If anyone is able to venture close enough to his eyes, they can detect specks of other colors in them. These are noticeable in casual situations, not so much in battle. He near his pupil lie what seem to be a kaleidescope of colors. The specks of soft teal green and light silver can catch the eye of females especially those seeking men, and can catch the eye of jealous black eyed men. If Shinshou could actually pull of a genuine smile, maybe he would actually look happy with a set of eyes like his!

PERSONALITY //
Understand the invisible //

Favorite Color | Shinshou's favorite color is black simply because it is a color that describes is overall self. A deep, dark and mysterious color that contains no particular flare or attraction like colors yellow and orange. Black tends to be one of his favorite colors because of his mother, who told him a secret about her favorite color. Since he harbors love towards his mother he keeps that color close to him to remember her. Even though he cannot remember much of the time he spent with his mother, he remembers the time she told him of her favorite color, the same day he made his favorite hers.

Likes |

One § Silence. He likes for people to shut up and for people to be quiet. There is nothing more annoying in his book than a person which is overly loud and boisterous and flaunts their self and mouth every where. Silence allows him to think carefully and calmly and keeps him cool. He appreciates places like libraries and people who revere this same trait.

Two § Power/Strength. Power means a lot to Shinshou due to experiences of his past which will be further divulged in his history. He believes that without power or strength no one can truly claim to be a Shinigami and a protector of lives. He also understands a mans innate struggle for power and respects men who fight to become stronger. No matter what the reason, Shinshou can at least understand someone's reasoning to become stronger, even if there is none.

Three § Sleeping. One of his favorite past times is to catch up on sleep. Even for really close friends of Shinshou that may know his sleep schedule, any extra time he spend sleeping is good time. He always refers to it as "catching up" on sleep as if there was a time where he got no sleep. Little do most people know that someone like him snores like a fat pig...

Four § Manga. Shinshou's secret little activity. He secretly reads Shounen jump and enjoys it as if he were a little kid! However he does read Seinen manga like "Gantz", "Shamo" and other mature manga that catch his eye. He particularly favors one about a high school student who has the ability to turn into a werewolf on the night of a full moon. He especially keeps it hidden because of the lame title and he naturally doesn't seem to be a person to like Shounen or any type of manga.

Five § Battle. Shinshou loves battle and it's pretty obvious. His true character shines here and he most loves the battlefield and being able to show his power to those willing to watch, or be cut down by it.

Dislikes |

One § Chores. Shinshou dislikes chores lik picking up behind himself and being clean in the place he lives. Though he is capable of it he is lazy and unwilling to do it. Sometimes once in a blue moon he may go on a cleaning spree and clean up. Most of the time he attempts to charm a passerby female into cleaning up his room for him.

Two § Weakness. Shinshou hates being weak and spends time training to cover any weakness he may have. He is one of those guys who will climb through a field of barbed wire, or tread barefoot across a live fire if it means that he can some how become stronger. If Soul Society is made to protect the humans from hollow, how can he allow any weakness to creep into the fiber of his being as a Shinigami?

Three § Disrespect. Shinshou also dislikes people who disrespect one another. For a Shinigami under the control of a Capitan, anyone disrespecting the Capitan may find his hard pressed hand against their neck or a Shikai activation out of nowhere! He cannot tolerate obvious disrespect, but doesn't mind comical disrespect. However, this isn't to say that he is always truly loyal to anyone possessing a seat or position above him. If a Capitan sends out orders or controls their Shinigami in a way that is blatantly disrespectful, he would act the same and attempt to correct the problem with a sword. Those higher ranking may have their position stolen if he ends up cutting them down.

Four § Injustice. His most coldest hatred is injustice, especially those who have power. If anyone being a level above some one in some odd hierarchy of power, passing down injustice can become a target. Similar to Jin, he views some organizations as potential places for injustice to breed and spawn. Though he is loyal to Soul Society and trust them, if there were ever a situation were something unjust were to get wind of him, he would deal with it.

Flaws |

One § Cockiness. Shinshou loves battle and can sometimes become cocky. This doesn't mean he will let his emotions control him in battle, but sometimes this can result in the underestimation of opponents and in turn result in his failure. He is most noteably cocky when he actually laughs or beings to smirk a lot in battle. He's trying to overcome it, but of a trash talking opponent surely has no strength to back his bark, he will surely see and hear that tight grin and cackling laugh! This is the only thing he shares with Jin, though Jin actually would have the resolve and strength to never loose in his eyes.

Two § Pride. He isn't proud like Byakuya in that sense, but more like Ichigo.. He is the one to refuse help and refuse to admit the fact that he may have some weaknesses. He hates to be put on the spot and to be embarrassed in a crowd, and if pushed enough, public punishment and humiliation of his pride may cause him to attack onlookers. As well as this, he tries his best to cover this flaw by pretending he doesn't care. In all honestly though, smashing Shinshou's pride is like kicking him when he's down.

Habits |

One § Weaponry and Care. Shinsou can always be found somewhere when he is active polishing his Soul Cutter and or creating/messing with weapon types. He loves throwing knives and shurikens, ninja-esque items that can be used in battle to surprise foes thinking that he is a one weaponed man. Though he does not divulge too much into weaponry, he loves reading and understanding new weapons, methods to handling weapons and taking care of them as well.

Two § Training. Whenever Shinshou can catch a break he goes to the place where his thoughts seem to click well. Any training ground is like home to him, and he trains as much as he can to just generally increase his skill level or to cover up weaknesses with blood and sweat. Even though he is even capable of training alone, a good training partner can easily become his best ally and maybe even closest friend.

Fears | Losing power. If Shinshou were to find out that some way or in some manner he was weaker or going to lose his power without any way to combat it, it would probably totally destroy him. Nothing else would hurt him that much that exists in the world. Power is close to him because of his relationship with his mother, and a failed promise which he could not keep to keep her alive to this very day. Why he fights so hard and why he puts so much effort into becoming stronger is because he fears losing it. He doesn't want to ever wake up and find himself short on power or experience a dull life full of no power as if he were human again.

Goals | Shinshou's goal is to attain the power level of a Capitan, and maybe even something more powerful than that. He wants to become powerful enough to be able to work together with with Jin. Even though a requirement for attaining a Bankai is making your Zanpakuto submissive through defeat, Shinshou still wants to attain more power by working with Jin any way possible. Once he has mastered Bankai, he does not want his power level to stop there, and will fill out his strength in other categories to not necessarily become a jack-of-all-trades, but to be able to prove that he is knowledgeable and strong in all areas of Shinigami combat. A Capitan role is a goal for him, simply because it shows a measure of power which all citizens of Soul Society respect. If there are any levels of strength to obtain after, Shinshou will definitely seek him, his will to gain more strength is a constant uphill battle to which he never sees a top.

Overall Personality | Shinshou's overall personality is introverted and he carries a few extroverted tendencies. For the most part he likes to keep to himself and to his own tasks and chores. He doesn't too much particularly like group work or being around other people unless he is training or around any developed close friends. He is obedient as ever as long as respect is given and follows commands in the fullest and is easy to work with. One thing about his is his tendency to be an obvious liar, especially around..
